Matt Clark
Matt Clark is a lifelong
resident of the Southern Utah region. He became
interested in welding and working with metal at age fifteen when
he purchased
a welding machine. Little did he know his early interest
in working with metal would lead to an artistic career as a
fell-time metal sculptor. Matt is intrigued by the process
of creating sculpture from various metals and found objects--
the primary material being steel. His satisfaction
comes from creating an
object that seems to take on a life of its own.
He has focused on two distinct styles of sculpture: whimsical
and contemporary.
Found objects such as gears, car parts, and industrial
components are welded together to create his whimsical
characters. Steel, copper and stone are
used to create his contemporary sculpture.
